Details of our Senior Team are as follows:
Michael Wolf
Director
With over 20 years of extensive civil surveying experience, gained on major infrastructure projects including the Ballina Bypass and Transcity JV Legacy Way, Michael founded WW Surveys in 2015 with a clear vision for delivering high‑quality, client‑focused surveying services.
As Managing Director, Michael has successfully led WW Surveys through significant growth, guiding the business to secure the Early Works contract and the Building & Services Survey package for Cross River Rail, one of Australia’s largest and most complex infrastructure projects. His leadership is characterised by strategic insight, strong client relationships and the ability to build and empower high‑performing teams capable of delivering on large‑scale, technically complex projects.
Tony Byrnes
Operations Manager
Tony has experience across top‑tier civil and resources projects throughout Australia. He holds a Bachelor of Spatial Science and Engineering (Surveying), an RePL UAV pilot licence, and is also Registered and Endorsed as an Engineering Surveyor in Queensland (ESP‑AP).
Tony is deeply passionate about the surveying industry, with particular strengths in client relationship development and survey team leadership.
In his role as Business Operations Manager, Tony is responsible for overseeing operational performance, resource planning, governance and continuous improvement across survey and project delivery functions. He plays a key role in aligning technical service delivery with business objectives, ensuring efficiency, quality and consistency for clients across complex construction environments.
Matthew Byrnes
Operations Manager
Matthew brings over 20 years of experience in the civil infrastructure industry, with a strong understanding of both the technical and commercial drivers of major projects. His experience spans rail, tunnelling and large‑scale infrastructure construction projects, including Transcity JV Legacy Way, Gold Coast Light Rail, Cross River Rail, and the W2B Pacific Highway Upgrade.
In his role as Business Operations Manager, Matthew provides strategic leadership across operational planning, resourcing, governance and risk management, ensuring alignment between project delivery and broader business objectives. He works closely with project teams to drive efficiency, consistency, and continuous improvement across the organisation.
Nathan James
Project Manager
Nathan has been a valued member of the WWS team since 2019, playing a key role in the successful delivery of the Deception Bay Interchange Project, as well as the commencement and ongoing delivery of works on Gold Coast Light Rail – Stage 3.
Nathan has also supported critical scopes on Cross River Rail, including involvement at Albert Street Station and coordination of rail shutdowns across the Southern Area.
Leveraging his extensive experience across large civil, mining, and land development projects, and his strong understanding of both technical and project controls, Nathan was promoted to Project Manager. In this role, he is responsible for planning and coordinating project delivery, managing resources, leading field teams and coordinating stakeholders to ensure safe, efficient, and high‑quality outcomes.
Chris Doyle
Project Manager
Chris has over 20 years’ industry experience, having delivered survey services across a wide range of infrastructure projects, including major gas and water pipeline developments, both locally and throughout Australia.
Throughout his career, Chris has worked across both field and office environments, with responsibilities spanning project coordination, technical delivery and ongoing liaison with clients and contractors to ensure effective communication and program alignment.
In his current role as Project Manager, Chris leads our teams on the Rail Integration & Systems scope of the Cross River Rail Project and the Ormeau QTMP Project, overseeing day‑to‑day delivery, coordinating resources and stakeholders, and ensuring safe, accurate, and timely outcomes within a complex rail environment.
Ryan Arthurs
Survey Manager
Ryan joined the WWS team in 2021 bringing with him extensive civil experience in undertaking detail and contour surveys, construction set-out, as-con surveys and survey plans. Due to his work ethic and proven on-site ability whilst on the CRR Project, Ryan quickly progressed to a Senior Surveyor position on the Rail, Integration & Systems portion of the CRR Project. Since August 2024, Ryan has been leading the QTMP Project at Ormeau in the role of Survey Manager.
Adnan Rostami
Senior Surveyor
Adnan is a self-driven professional who excels in mentoring others and takes pride in dedicating his time enhancing his team’s skills. He has worked on a variety of construction projects and has over 20 years' experience in highways, airports, bridges, tunnels and civil works. Adnan started with WWS in 2023 and after successfully working in the role of Senior Surveyor at the Cross River Rail project for the Boggo Road Station team, he is now focusing on leading the Roma Street team. Adnan will be instrumental in driving the northern areas of the CRR project through to completion.
Cameron Gwatking
Senior Surveyor
Cameron joined the DTI Ormeau project in the role of Senior Surveyor, when he commenced with WWS in 2025. Cameron is dual-qualified in both Surveying and Building design and brings with him over 10 years of experience in the surveying industry in both civil and construction works. His previous roles included mine, rail and pipeline projects and BIM modelling.
Damian Slepikowski
Data Manager / Senior Surveyor
Damian joined WWS in mid-2024 and has over twenty years of experience in the surveying game, which is a huge asset to any company. He has worked in both construction and mine surveying, together with involvement in major rail and TMR projects. Damian also has an extensive background in Data Management, providing end-of-month quantity calculations and survey conformance reporting. He joins our team in the role of Data Manager / Senior Surveyor, providing additional expertise to our already solid Senior Surveyor / Data Support Team.
Daniel Ebens
Senior Surveyor
Daniel’s major civil contracting roles include all aspects of Bridges, Rail, Arterial Road contracting, Structures and Services. Daniel joined WW Surveys in 2022 as a Senior Surveyor on the Mount Lindesay Highway Upgrade Project, which included all aspects of Project Survey Management. Upon completion of the MLHW Project, Daniel then moved to the Gold Coast Light Rail project, where he is currently working in the role of Senior Surveyor. Daniel is also a member of the Surveying & Spatial Science Institute (SSSI) and Registered Surveying Associate with the Surveyors Board of Queensland.
Joseph Katmale
Senior Surveyor
Joseph joined the WWS team in 2022, bringing with him experience associated with Civil, Infrastructure, Mining and Engineering Surveying. After successfully performing the role of 2IC of our Woolloongabba Station team on the Cross River Rail Project, Joseph was promoted to Senior Surveyor and is currently heading up the nightshift team on the Gold Coast Light Rail project.
Karsten Hess
Data Manager / Senior Surveyor
Karsten originally started with the WWS team back in 2022 and after a briefly leaving the company in September 2023 to enjoy some well-earned R&R, he rejoined us in 2025 in the role of Data Manager / Senior Surveyor. Karsten is a well-respected and highly valued member of the team and has been assisting the Gold Coast Light Rail and QTMP Ormeau project teams.
Marcus Watson
Data Manager
Bringing with him over 10 years’ experience as a Data Manager, Marcus was a great addition to our team when he joined us in 2022. Marcus is a highly creative and multi-talented data manager with extensive experience in different projects. He is passionate about major civil infrastructure construction, has practical experience in all aspects of design, site supervision, planning and providing support to the project manager leading up to executing complex construction projects efficiently. Marcus has a strong background in conceptualisation and implementation of design solutions. He is a passionate and inventive creator of innovative design; accustomed to performing in deadline- driven environments.
Nick Watson
Senior Surveyor
As a surveyor with more than 20 years’ experience, Nick’s major civil contracting roles include all aspects of bridge, road, tunnel, mine infrastructure and rail. He has extensive knowledge of the survey requirements for delivering civil projects and the latest technologies including UAV’s, scanning and photogrammetry. Nick was one of the founding Directors of WW Surveys and now enjoys his role of Senior Surveyor working on the Cross River Rail project.
Paul Hardwick
Data Manager / SME
Paul has extensive experience with 12d software and has spent the past 13 years developing modules and training/presenting 12d to end users. Prior to this, he was a Regional Survey Manager for Australian Survey Hire, where he managed teams of Surveyors across a broad range of council and state infrastructure projects. Paul is instrumental in enhancing, streamlining, and developing our 12d in-house, to assist in our day-to-day data work and supporting our project portfolio at a high-end technical level. He is our resident 12D / 12D Field SME, supporting our greater team in any issues and queries on functions within 12D / 12DF.
Ragu Varnan
Senior Surveyor
Ragu joined WWS in 2022, bringing with him extensive international experience across Senior Surveyor, Surveyor and Land Surveyor roles on civil construction engineering surveying projects. After contributing to the Cross River Rail project, Ragu transitioned to the Rail Integration & Systems (RIS) scope, where he played a key role in the successful delivery of station upgrades. This achievement led to his promotion in 2026 to Senior Surveyor, where he is putting his expertise to use on the QTMP Ormeau Project
Vladimir Kuzmanovic
Senior Surveyor
Vladimir is a highly motivated and passionate Senior Surveyor, with previous experience working at Denmark’s largest construction company. His leadership qualities, excellent communication skills, and industry knowledge, provided a great basis to head up the Boggo Road station team on the Cross River Rail project, before moving over to the Rail Integration & Systems (RIS) Project.
